Building
Futures with Women and Children (BFWC) is recruiting for several open
positions. Below are the job title, summary, and some of the
requirements

*Domestic Violence Shelter Manager
Position Summary:
The Domestic Violence Shelter Manager
works to end domestic violence and homelessness by coordinating and
supervising the operations delivery for Building Futures’ domestic
violence safe house, Sister Me Home. This position is responsible for
remaining current on all domestic violence trends,
resources and ensuring that the safe house remains a haven for healing
its residents. The incumbent will be responsible for providing a
hands-on approach to the program for our domestic violence shelter,
advocacy and community outreach initiatives to advance
social change and build wider visibility and support for the issues
that have an impact on our clients’ lives. On a rotating basis, the
Domestic Violence Shelter Manager also provides 24-hour on-call response
for the shelter.
Position Requirements:
Master of Social Work (MSW) or equivalent clinical program management
experience, in a human/social
services and/or non-profit setting. Knowledge of Domestic Violence
Dynamics & Alameda County resources for homeless and other
underserved populations.
*Children’s Program Coordinator for Domestic Violence Shelter
Position Summary:
The Children’s Program Coordinator will be a source of care for the
children in our domestic violence
shelter. This person will create and facilitate activities for our
children. They will also assist the families in fostering a sense of
well-being for the children that they can build upon. You will be
helping children re-build their lives after being witness
to or victim of domestic violence, victim of violence, and/or homeless.
The Children’s Program Coordinator may also handle children’s case
management
Position Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in child advocacy, family counseling, psychology, behavioral sciences,
or social work or equivalent experience.
*Veterans Services/ Street Outreach Case Manager
Position Summary:
This person will also work with homeless individuals and veterans in
getting them connected to
services that will aid them in obtaining housing. The SSVF Case
Manager will be responsible for street outreach in order to engage the
homeless in the community that is residing in uninhabitable areas.
Position Requirements: Bachelors Degree or Equivalent Professional experience in the human services or related field
and demonstrated experience in rental housing programs for low income, special needs individual and families.
*Resident Advocates
Position Summary:
The resident advocate plays a very important role that is imperative to
our agency and anyone
that fills this role needs to understand and believe in our mission.
The incumbent will be working very closely with other staff in the
shelter to see our clients through a successful stay with us. The
Resident Advocate strives to provide a high level of customer
service to our residents.
Position Requirements: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Experience and knowledge of the effects of trauma, domestic
violence, homelessness, mental health, substance abuse, and child abuse prevention, and empowerment of women and children.

which includes community workers and other program staff who serve
clients in Alameda County. Our purpose is to share resources and combine
efforts by disseminating useful information throughout the county.
