JOB PURPOSE:

If you have tenacity and strong prospecting skills for calling prospects to set up appointments or obtain source relationships and close new business independently or through outside team

OUR COMPANY:
Surplus Service is in the high growth Green sustainability Reuse and Recycle industry. Our reverse logistics model “Upcycles” depleted electronics giving them a second life via reuse, refurbish, data removal, resale or eco-friendly recycling. In this role, you have the opportunity to make a valuable contribution to the environment, earn a good income and grow with the leader in this growing industry. We source and sell surplus electronics from e-waste, liquidation and retail return goods. Our expertise spans over 10 years and we are a certified green small women owned business. We’re the real life version of TV shows like Storage Wars and Auction Hunters. Our diverse client base is IT based with many medical, government and high technology companies. 

JOB DUTIES: 
  • Make ongoing phone calls to identify business opportunities by prospecting, qualifying and developing source and supply opportunities. 
  • Close deals independently and work jointly with outside sales team to negotiate and close potential supply sources. 
  • Performance is generally a direct correlation between the number of calls and quality of calls you do which should average between 30-80 per day. 
  • Some contact information is provided but you will be responsible for developing your prospect funnel. This requires extensive internet research skills to find executive’s contact info. 
  • Decision makers to contact are, Facility, IT, IS or Operation managers at major corporation, hospital, telecom/network, OEM, instrument and device companies. 
  • Performance is evaluated on finding low cost source merchandise that can be sold for profit. 
  • Excellent computer skills including knowledge of software and internet browsing to obtain prospect contact information and input it into our tracking system. Routinely record customer details and track activity. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and teamwork skills to be able to explain products and services to prospects and “get by” the gatekeeper to decision makers. 
  • Develop a scripted sales pitch and understanding of industry and needs to be able to explain to customers in a short attention getting story.
  • Schedule appointments for outside sales team. Skills needed for this are persuasiveness, tenacity, eager, self-motivation and a very strong track record of success developing new business. 
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, read publications, develop personal networks and participation in professional organizations is very important. Experience and relationships with electronic retailers and manufactures is a plus. The position reports to the President and may require Bay Area travel to expand our sourcing relationships.

Our compensation is a base with uncapped commission tied to the sale of goods sourced. Local candidates only. Three to five years of acquisition, buyer or sourcing experience is preferred with strong Closing Skills, Motivation for Sales, Prospecting Skills, Sales Planning, Customer Needs Selling, Territory Management, Presentation Skills and Professionalism
