Solar Thermal Crew Leader

About the Position: 
SLP is looking for a leader for a team of installers who primarily build large-scale commercial and municipal solar thermal (hot water) projects throughout California.
What you’ll do:
 
  • Install mounting system for solar collectors including roof attachments, weatherproof penetrations, rack components, structural members, and insulation of solar collectors.
  • Plan pipe routing and reading plan schematics.
  • Implement a Site Specific Safety Plan including; perform job site hazard analysis, evaluate vehicle safety, etc.
  • Manage a small to medium sized team (1-8 people) of varying personalities and skill sets.


You should have:
 
  • 3-5 years of experience in the area’s listed above.
  • 3+ years of experience in reading a schematic drawing and work independently from schematics.
  • Strong troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to assess crewmember’s capabilities and appropriately assign tasks to maximize efficiency.
  • Ability to evaluate and provide hands-on training to junior crew members.
  •  Proven experience in relevant construction experience (Electrical or roof  work).
  • Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools.
  • Comfort in working at heights of 20ft or higher.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments e.g. rain, hot sun, freezing temperatures, crawl spaces & attics.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, comfortably lift 40+ pounds repetitively and must work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Strong technical background and detailed product knowledge in similar.
  • Current clean CA driver’s license
