Berkeley: Solar Thermal Installer 1

About the Position: 
SLP is looking for a star performer in the field of solar thermal who is responsible for installation and maintenance of solar energy systems designed to collect, store and circulate solar heated water for residential, commercial or industrial use.
What you’ll do:
  • Install mounting system for solar panels, roof attachments, weatherproof penetrations, rack components, structural members, plumb array structure and apply corrosion protection to cut surfaces.
  • Connect water heaters and storage tanks to power and water sources.
  • Determine locations for installing solar subsystem components, including piping, water heaters, valves, and ancillary equipment.
  • Identify plumbing, electrical, environmental, or safety hazards associated with solar thermal installations.

You should have:

  • 2 years of experience in the area’s listed above.
  • 2 + years of experience in relevant construction experience (Electrical or roof work).
  • Experience with the safe use of hand-held and power tools.
  • Comfort in working at heights of 20ft or higher.
  • Ability to work in extreme environments e.g. rain, hot sun, freezing temperatures, crawl spaces & attics.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs, comfortably lift 40+ pounds repetitively and must work on your feet for long periods of time.
  • Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and listening skills.
  • Strong technical background and detailed product knowledge in similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-up.
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic and fractions, algebra and basic high school geometry.
  • Current clean CA driver’s license
