No benefits are offered JOB DESCRIPTION AND DUTIES: St. James’ Episcopal Church is a progressive worshipping community that welcomes anyone seeking a spiritual path. Our congregation is made up of diverse cultures, ages, and family configurations. Under the supervision of the rector, the parish administrator is responsible for the general management of the church office, parish-wide communications, and assisting with facilities management. Duties to include but not limited to: General Office - Organization and maintenance of physical office space, including office machines. - Greet and direct any visitors, answer telephone. - Pickup mail from the post office and from the mailbox. Distribute as needed. - Purchase postage, cleaning, office and kitchen supplies as needed. - Manage membership database, data-entry and report generation. - Maintain office paper files as needed. - Email/mail coffee hour, altar flower & candle donation reminders. - Mail church correspondence and invoice payments as needed, including maintaining paper files. - Recruit and oversee volunteer staff as needed. - Create various brochures, nametags, sign-up sheets as needed. - Generate use agreements for facility rentals. - Maintain the online church calendar, book rooms, determine special needs, and communicate conflicts/changes. - Other general office duties as assigned by the Rector. Publications/Communication - In conjunction with the clergy, create and send bulk weekly email(s) and weekly announcement sheet. - Assist in the creation and preparation of seasonal and special worship bulletins. - Assist in the creation and preparation of other publications such as event flyers and postcards. - Prepare seasonal power point service materials. Qualification and special skills: Requirements - The ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion. - The ability to work independently and be a self-starter. - Proven knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). - Experience with, or aptitude to learn, desktop publishing software, specifically Adobe products. - Comfort with email, internet, social networking. - Knowledge of general office equipment. - Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral. - Prior administrative experience. Must be organized and work efficiently. - Knowledge of Episcopal, Lutheran or Roman Catholic Liturgy a plus; comfort with church culture a must.
