Finishing Technician III (Deburr) - Fremont

Pay rate:  Day/Swing $12, Grave $13
Job description:      Set up and operate grinding, honing, lapping, or deburring machines to remove excess materials or burrs from internal and external surfaces.

Seeking candidates with at least 2-3 years of experience within deburring in a machine job shop environment. Deburring involves polishing, grinding, sanding and other forms of finishing of aluminum and stainless steel components from 10"-30" length/diameter separate work cell will be wearing respirators masks and eye protection at all times. Hand tools to include Pneumatic orbital Sanders, polish wheel, and spray nozzle.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have good verbal and communication skills, reading comprehension and basic math skills. Must be proficient in the use of hand tools. Must be able to interpret engineering drawings and execute written procedures relating to metal finishes. Must follow company and departmental policies and procedures. Good hand/eye coordination. Must have excellent interpersonal skills to train others. Must be able to work with engineering developing/improving processes and procedures for products. Demonstrates good problem solving skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
A.
Apply various metal finishing techniques to correct machining anomalies, repair minor defects and produce surface finishes on parts as required by engineering drawings, customer specifications, and established practices.
C. Achieve and maintain quality and quantity of work produced in the area of assigned specialization (i.e., detail, polish, hardware, leak check) as determined by customer requirements.
Must be able to use the following tools proficiently and safely:
Orbital sander/jitter bug, Die grinder, Deburr whip/knife, Angle grinder, Utilize fixtures to achieve finishes
Must be able to perform the following job duties proficiently and safely:
Proper cleaning of parts, Sand parts using orbital sander,  Polish parts using polishing mediums, Bead blasting
Honing, Polishing on engine lathe.

Basic understanding of blueprint reading and other written instructions
Accurate data collection
Maintain accurate part counts
Perform operator level maintenance and service on assigned tools and/or equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Job requires occasional squatting, bending and stooping. Frequent lifting, carrying or moving up to 50 lb. Constant standing throughout the shift. Must be able to hear, see with 20/20 vision with or without corrective lenses, and speak to communicate with manager and co-workers. Must be able to wear personal protection equipment e.g. respirator, safety shoes, safety glasses or googles, and hearing protection.
Repetitive manual movements (e.g., buffing, polishing, etc.) are frequently required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position is Nonexempt. Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half. Experience needed in driving cab-over style box truck. Requires moving heavy toolboxes, gang boxes and construction materials throughout facilities. Need to organize cages and recognize materials when requested or have ability to order materials via stockroom 5+ years
Work is conducted in shop and office environment. May be required to work more than eight (8) hours per shift based on demand of business. Position requires extensive contact with employees and management. While in the shop, employee may be exposed to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and loud noises.
